Wilfred Thesiger (1908-2003) was a British explorer, writer, and soldier. He is best known for his extensive travels in the Middle East and North Africa, where he explored some of the most remote and inhospitable regions of the world.
Thesiger was born into a wealthy British family and was educated at Eton College and the Royal Geographical Society. He first became interested in travel and exploration as a young man, and he later embarked on a series of expeditions to the Arabian Peninsula and other remote regions of the world.
Thesiger is perhaps best known for his travels in the Arabian Peninsula, where he explored the interior of the region on foot and by camel. He wrote several books about his travels, including "Arabian Sands," which is considered a classic of travel literature.
