Jeff Smith is an American cartoonist and author best known for creating the popular comic strip Bone, which has been published in over 25 countries and has won numerous awards.
Smith was born in 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up reading comic books and drawing. He attended the University of Missouri, where he studied journalism and illustration.
After college, Smith worked as a freelance illustrator and cartoonist, and began publishing his own comics, including the minicomic Cabbage Head. In the early 1990s, he created the comic strip Bone, which follows the adventures of three cousins as they explore a fantastical world filled with dragons, giants, and other magical creatures.
Bone was a critical and commercial success, and was nominated for numerous awards, including the Eisner Award and the Harvey Award. The series was eventually adapted into an animated television series, which aired on Cartoon Network.
In addition to Bone, Smith has also published a number of other comics and graphic novels, including RASL and Shazam! The Monster Society of Evil. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the Harvey Award for Best Artist and the Ignatz Award for Outstanding Graphic Novel or Collection.
